The Recon Kit

Hollywood Special Ops’ unique Recon Kit allows high-speed cameras to operate more like conventional cameras.  It includes everything needed to maximize the usefulness of high-speed cameras for cinema use.  Our custom built Power Box enables battery power for Phantom and Photron cameras, as well as for any 24v camera and its accessories.  With the Recon Kit, long downloads are a thing of the past.  Instead of long sequences of still-images, we deliver QuickTime files at the end of the day.  Not only is this quick on set, it cuts the post-production process to a fraction of the time.  Of course, all the basics are included with the Recon Kit: Sachtler v20 tripod system, hit hat, 15mm studio rod system, 4x5 or 4x4 matte box, polarizer, ND grads, onboard monitor, recording device, media, laptop, rain covers, magliner, all the necessary cables with backups etc etc.  The Recon Kit fits almost any high-speed camera out there, making them mobile, completely untethered, and allowing for some incredible handheld slo mo.

The Nomad Kit

Combined with the Nomad Kit, the Phantom v10 becomes the most portable high-speed system on the planet.  It allows the camera to be entirely untethered and easily handheld.  This configuration can keep up with any ENG style crew, and it has helped us shoot footage while climbing glaciers in Alaska, while skiing, even while the operator was skateboarding.  Reset time between shots is 1.5 to 2.5 minutes and then, without ever leaving the operator’s shoulder, it’s ready for another shot.  All the basics are included: Sachtler v20 tripod system,  hi hat, 15mm mini rod system, 4x5 or 4x4 matte box, polarizer, onboard monitor, recording device, media, laptop, all the necessary cables with backups etc etc.  It also includes a multitude of miscellaneous items that make shooting high-speed far less cumbersome than in the past.  The Nomad kit fits only older model Phantom cameras.
